She is a fierce advocate for our kids and families, holding CYFD accountable; reforming guardianships and conservatorships; and expanding background checks for those working in our schools.

Voted to protect healthcare coverage for those with pre-existing conditions and reduce prescription drug costs.
Protected women's access to reproductive healthcare by voting to repeal the archaic NM criminal abortion statute.
Rep. Matthews helped lead us out of the pandemic by co-sponsoring the Small Business Recovery Loan Act to help local businesses recover.
She voted to eliminate the tax on Social Security Income and to reduce the tax on Veteran retirement pay.
She voted to cut the Gross Receipts Tax & to send us Tax Relief Rebate Checks to help with the rising cost of groceries and gas.
Rep. Matthews voted to make college & vocational school tuition free for hard-working New Mexicans. And, she voted to reduce predatory lending rates that are crippling thousands of New Mexicans.

Marian supports cost of living increases for those already receiving benefits. She also supports significantly higher wage increases of more than 3% for state and other covered public employees. To further support public employees, Marian believes we must reduce the 22% to 30% vacancy rates in our state agencies and departments.
The NM Foundation for Open Government has recognized Marian Matthews as a staunch advocate for better government and transparency. She was awarded the William S. Dixon First Amendment Freedom Award.
NM House District 27 is located in Albuquerque’s beautiful NE Heights.
The district includes Paseo del Norte on its northern end, from I-25 on western end. The southern end includes San Antonio up to Wyoming Blvd, where the boundaries then go south to Academy and zig-zags all the way to Montgomery Blvd. The eastern end includes Eubank and zig-zags a little further east in areas up to Juan Tabo with a few neighborhoods just east of Juan Tabo.
The District includes Cherry Hills Park, Jade Park, Heritage Hills Park, Academy Hills Park, Bear Canyon, Quintessence Park, Rotary Park, and the Pino Yards.
